Books we love

It has been too long since I have done one of these posts and we have read A LOT of good books lately. This one is definitely one of the best I have read for a long time. It is no surprise though because the author, Michael Ian Black, wrote the movie Run, Fat Boy, Run. Other than the great story, and included in the great illustrations on every page are 2 black ants that you and your child can look for. I don't want to give away the ending but it is a very entertaining book.

Attn Bloggers: Get 50 free Christmas Cards from Shutterfly

It's getting to be that time! Thanksgiving and Christmas are around the corner and I know all of you are thinking about what YOU want to give. I pride myself in finding gifts for the individual person and often making something myself. Many of these goodies are a sewn creation, but now a days Shutterfly is where I often find myself. I have been making Photo Books for many different occasions and they are always a hit. They make it really easy and will even fill in the book for you, I'm not that kind of gal, have to do things "the hard way" which is not hard at all. But I like to put my pictures in a particular order.
Well now on to the season upon us. I think more and more people are sending Thanksgiving cards and not Christmas cards, simply because of the hectic time crunch that seems to surround Christmas. And with these ADORABLE Thanksgiving Cards why not...check out some of my favorites-

And if those aren't cute enough check out their Thank You Cards- what a great idea! A personalized thank you from your little munchkin (or munchkins)

So have fun looking around their site and see what you like too! If you have a blog and are interested in 50 free Holiday Cards click here to find out how.

Welcome Reese

Most of you know that we decided that our wonderful Penelope print was a great unisex print and not just for girls. That being said, we couldn't call it Penelope anymore. So now we are reintroducing Penelope as Reese and have added the Reese Sky blanket- it is BEAUTIFUL, if we do say so ourselves!!

Brilliant Design

Every once in a while I come across a product that is AMAZING, a why didn't I think of that kind of item. Well today I came across one. And am now thinking that I should just start adding these to the blog whenever I see them.

Tuned Pale Ale is a product that explores the musical affordances in everyday objects and promotes social spontaneity. While drinking beer, people become musically encouraged and often start making music with objects around them. This product aims to promote more of this type of social interaction. This product aims to inform users about the musical qualities of existing bottles and to make the bottle a better instrument.

Even if you don't like beer, I think this is a great concept because you could reuse it over and over with water or whatever you fancy...
Unfortunately it is not available yet, but I am looking forward to getting my hands on these when they are.

A collaboration coming soon...

My good friend Lara ordered a tie for her little guy and that got me thinking...
She runs Little Gal Designs- ADORABLE felt hair accessories. Her little gals might be related to my 'Lina Bean tie wearing little guys. How cute would it be if they coordinated! So coming for Father's Day 2010 we will offer Ties for Father and Son, and Little Gal Designs will offer coordinating hair accessories. You'll be able to get it all under one roof, hers or mine...
We cannot wait to show them to you!

Books We Love

Well I have decided to start a new regular post called "Books we love". There are so many amazing children's books out there and we have had the pleasure of reading so many of them that I thought, I would share some of our favorites with you. As I was looking for a picture of the first one I came across this reading of it on YouTube and thought I would share.

This book came to us from our 3 year old's school- somehow our shy guy picked this one out and brought it home- plain red cover and all, I have a feeling that one of his teachers thought it would be a good one for him.

A better kids bag...and easy for mom

I have been using my reusable grocery bags for a while now and love them. As a mom one of my favorite benefits is that there is a whole lot less for me to carry- one small thing to make my life a little easier...

My mom gave me one of the really pretty roll up reusable bags that is ALWAYS in my purse and I use it ALL the time. My favorite company that makes these bags is RuMe. Now they have come out with all sorts of new bags and the RuMe Jr. is adorable and a must have for moms. Just the right size and look for your little one to help (for real, no quotation marks on that)!

More to love about RuMe is that they are a Denver based company and they are a fair trade company with all of their products produced in South Korea.

Another New Fabric

Hi there everyone- we need your help! We are almost sold out of our Sarah fabric and are in need of a new fabric. Please tell us (in whatever format you would like) what fabric you think we should add to the line. Feel free to send us a message on facebook, twitter, or a good old fashioned email! We would love to hear from you.

We'll call this one Wendy- it reminds me of my days at Anthropologie.

Here's Nina-

and finally Madeline- can anyone guess what this is a print of?

Have fun picking your favorite!

Miles Room

At long last Miles room is complete and we all love it!
After all of the feedback from our readers we figured we had to share where these pieces came from. Most of the items in his room have come from family, making them even more special!

-Quilt- I designed it, my mom made it
-Wall Quilt, made by my mom
- Rug- Dash and Albert- available at Up Home, my mother-in-law's store
-Dresser- made by Kevin, my wonderful husband, check out his website
(we think there is a lot more to come with his modern furniture- stay tuned for pics of THE crib and Luke's dresser)
-Frame- Room and Board, one of our favorites
-Print- vintage woodcut print
-Canvas bins- 'Lina Bean!!! These are the prototypes and will be put to the test with our 3 year old product tester.
-Art- Miles Ritter originals hanging from IKEA Dignitet Curtain Wire
