In an effort to learn more about eco-friendly fabrics I thought I should share what Robert Kaufman, our manufacturer for the wonderful Logan fabric in the line, has to say about the process.
organic, sustainable and eco-friendly fabrics At Robert Kaufman, we are pleased to present greenSTYLE, fabric options created from environmentally-friendly materials and fabrication methods. These textiles are organic, sustainable and low-impact dyed, leaving less (or no) harmful waste and making the most sustainable and natural use of the Earth's precious resources. Ingenuity and innovation are the hallmark of eco-friendly yarns and fabrics, and often unearth exciting new production methods and repurposing of some unlikely sources. Robert Kaufman is proud to support innovative thinking and enjoys exploring new product areas like this. Our Commitment to the FutureThis is only the beginning of Robert Kaufman’s dedication to global responsibility. The greenSTYLE line is growing, as we add exciting and innovative NEW eco-friendly content and explore more environmentally-friendly methods of production. We're also taking steps in our internal operations to reduce paper waste, recycle and conserve energy. It's a big undertaking, but if we all do our parts, we can do great things for saving Earth.
Our cotton/bamboo solid range, Panda, has enjoyed such popularity, and we've received so many requests for a print on this fabrication, that we're proud to introduce Panda Prints. This 60% cotton and 40% bamboo poplin makes a statement in more ways than one.

After months of choosing fabrics, more months of creating the line, and more months of getting the website updated we are almost there. Thanks for bearing with us as the blog has been pushed to the side for a little while. We'll be back at it very shortly!
Yes, you read that right, we are having a sale. Everything at 'lina bean is on sale. It is the perfect time to buy multiples of items. Once they are gone that is it. The 2009 line will be available soon and we are introducing all new fabrics!
We are already winding down the production of our '08 line and '09 is waiting in the wings. I just couldn't wait to tell you that 'lina bean is going GREEN! We are adding a beautiful 5'x5' blanket to the line made of fleece and bamboo trim. The fleece is made from recycled plastic bottles and the trim as it says above is made of bamboo! This will have two straps on the end for tying up. This blanket will be the perfect THROW and GO blanket. A must have to keep in the car and just throw out on any lawn for an instant picnic or play area.
Of course 'lina bean isn't my most important job, here are the THIRTEEN WORDS I hear most from my (almost) 2 year old...
I thought you might like to hear about the other side of life
1. MAMA- I cannot even start to tell you how many ways this is said, most of you can completely understand this 2. DADA- Said almost as often as Mama but this one has a questioning sound after it during the work day and then my response is "where is he", he says "idono?" then quickly... 3. WORK- pronounced [woo-k] and it is said in a very sure tone 4. ELLA-BELLA- pronounced [EL-Bel], our dog's name is Ella and her official name is Ella Bella Valentine (she was born on Valentine's Day, yes I know it is corny) so I had unconsciously shortened it to El Bel and apparently it has stuck, amazing how your habits come out when you have someone copying your every word... 5. SNACK- pronounced - [sthna-k] 6. MILK - pronounced- [Mi-k] 7. TOY- pronounced [Toyyyy] (sorry I don't know how to put the accent above the letter so you will have to bear with me on the long letter sound) but he only uses it for Ella's toys not his 9. PLAY- pronounced [Paaa] this gets very confusing because his p's sound like his b's and sometimes I wonder if get play, back, ball, or any number of other words 10. DIRTY- pronounced [dI-te] it must be my fault and I am sure the next child won't be so obsessed with dirty, but I apparently have said "Don't touch, it's dirty" too many times already and it has stuck 11. CLEAN NOW- pronounced [kee-nou] this one took me a long time to figure out, but when he would say dirty I would clean it off and say "It's clean now" and he thought this was all one word- once again, amazing the influence you have as a mom 12. ME- well this one is another obvious one, he does use it a bit more than I would like in this stage, he substitutes it for "Please pick me up" and it gets louder and more frequent until I pick him up, ahhhh so pleasant 13. GOOD BOY/BIG BOY- pronounced [b-boui] yes I know there are 2 sets of words there, but both are pronounce the same and mean different things and refer to himself, or anyone else- he can be a big/good boy and so can anyone else...
I just got back from NYC where I went to a few different Children's accessories shows and am completely inspired. The new line for '09 is in the works and will be available in November. The show helped me have some clarity on our line. There were so many things out there that were too cute or too trendy. I have always strived to have 'lina bean be modern and classic- that is even more clear now. This line is about quality, clean lines, and beautiful design. You won't find anything with bling, characters, or a grungy feeling here. Keep checking back as I will reveal one print for '09 weekly!
1. Fabulous! 2. The fabrics are beautiful... 3. It works, it actually works (about the Burp cloth)... 4. I love your blankie, can you make it in my size? 5. My oldest claimed his baby sisters blanket for himself! 6. Just darling... 7. I love the modern prints and color combinations 8. Finally snaps on a bib, it's so nice to have it stay on... 9. So soft! 10. I was given it as a gift and now MUST have more! 11. Thanks for making these in the USA 12. When I felt the blanket for the first time I fell in love 13. I will only buy my baby presents from 'lina bean!
In a nutshell this is what we are all about... OK so in my new blogging mode I have discovered that some of these technical things are not my forte- if you want to see it big go to http://wordle.net/gallery/wrdl/94307/trial
